Spanish (/ˈspænɪʃ/ (About this soundlisten)About this soundespañol ) or Castilian[3] (/kæˈstɪliən/ (About this soundlisten)About this soundcastellano ), is a Western Romance language that originated in the Castile region of Spain and today has hundreds of millions of native speakers in the Americas and Spain. It is a global language and the world's second-most spoken native language, after Mandarin Chinese.[4][5][6][7][8]Spanish is a part of the Ibero-Romance group of languages, which evolved from several dialects of Vulgar Latin in Iberia after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century. The oldest Latin texts with traces of Spanish come from mid-northern Iberia in the 9th century,[9] and the first systematic written use of the language happened in Toledo, then capital of the Kingdom of Castile, in the 13th century. Beginning in the early 16th century, Spanish was taken to the viceroyalties of the Spanish Empire, most notably to the Americas, as well as territories in AfricaOceania and the Philippines.[10]Around 75% of modern Spanish vocabulary is derived from LatinAncient Greek has also contributed substantially to Spanish vocabulary, especially through Latin, where it had a great impact.[11][12] Spanish vocabulary has been in contact with Arabic from an early date, having developed during the Al-Andalus era in the Iberian Peninsula.[13][14][15][16] With around 8% of its vocabulary being Arabic in origin, this language is the second most important influence after Latin.[13][17][18] It has also been influenced by BasqueIberianCeltiberianVisigothic, and by neighboring Ibero-Romance languages.[19][13]Additionally, it has absorbed vocabulary from other languages, particularly the Romance languages—FrenchItalianPortugueseGalicianCatalanOccitan, and Sardinian—as well as from NahuatlQuechua, and other indigenous languages of the Americas.[20]Spanish is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. It is also used as an official language by the European Union, the Organization of American States, the Union of South American Nations, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, the African Union and by many other international organizations.[21]

What is Literary Translation?

Whether it is a book on Greek philosophy or a short story by an indie author, a good Literary Translator is what you need when the topic of the text is related to, mainly, the Human Sciences and General Knowledge. Literary Translators have a vast experience in dealing with texts in which the meaning given by the author is sometimes abstract, subtle or obscure. We are trained for that. A good Literary Translator is him / herself a good writer too. The translator knows what the author wants to say because he/she could have expressed it the same way. Behind every Literary Translator there is, usually, a good Writer or Copy-writer. So, now that you know the main functions of a Literary Translator, please feel free to contact me at your convenience so I can give you a free quote:  diego.m.carpio@gmail.com

What is a CAT Tool?

Don't forget to visit my page for more info and quotes www.spanishizer.com / info@spanishizer.com Computer-assisted translation , computer-aided translation  or  CAT  is a form of  language translation  in which a human translator uses  computer hardware  to support and facilitate the translation process. [1] Computer -assisted translation is sometimes called machine-assisted, or machine-aided translation (not to be confused with machine translation). The automatic machine translation systems available today are not able to produce high-quality translations unaided: their output must be edited by a human to correct errors and improve the quality of translation. Computer-assisted translation (CAT) incorporates that manual editing stage into the software, making translation an interactive process between human and computer. [2] Some advanced computer-assisted translation solutions include controlled machine translation (MT). H...
